Folder of 10 orders and letters written and received by Field Marshal Lord William Birdwood, 5 October 1915 to 4 August 1917. The majority of these are official military orders distributed by Birdwood, General Sir Charles Carmichael Monro, and Lieutenant General Sir Launcelot Edward Kiggell. The file also includes copies of telegrams from the Department of Defence relating to the formation of Australians under Birdwood’s command and the replacement of Imperial officers by Australians.
