Description
Diary relating to First World War service of 358 Trooper Ion Llewellyn Idriess, 5th Light Horse Regiment. This diary was written in a notepad, with entries undated and written in a narrative style. In this diary, Idriess gives an account of his involvement in the Battles of Gaza, including witnessing a dismounted charge by New Zealand Mounted Rifles into the outskirts of Gaza, during the first battle. He also comments on Turkish bayonets, and mentions protecting horse-feed stores from Bedouin crowds, and the use of tanks at Gaza.
