About the Emotion Poppy project
The aim of this project is to analyse publicly available social media posts about commemoration and remembrance to determine the emotions of Australians during the Centenary of Armistice, a significant year in Australia’s history.
Teams from the Australian War Memorial and CSIRO Data61 have been collecting publicly available social media posts relating to commemoration and remembrance from Anzac Day, 25 April 2018 and will continue through to Remembrance Day, 11 November 2018.
This project leverages existing technology developed by CSIRO Data61, namely the We Feel platform that analyses emotion in social media content in real-time. Significant work has been undertaken to refine the current emotion module in the We Feel platform to customise it for unique words associated with the Australian War Memorial, commemoration and remembrance.
