Essence of truth

For many years, oil painting has provided me with an outlet for relaxation and reflection. It challenges me to produce works which are visually stimulating, while also causing me to think deeply about my interests in international relations, human behaviour, and theology.

Essence of truth is a traditional oil on canvas painting. The floral arrangement depicts the beauty of nature when viewed up close and contrasted against a dark, formless background. This provides a visual analogy of the beauty to be found in truth.

The path to truth can be a long and difficult journey, particularly when confounded by conflict and other human vices. Some philosophies and theories argue there is no absolute truth. Against this, a key verse of the Bible says “the truth will set you free”. For all people – regardless of position, innocence, or guilt – truth provides the foundation for justice, restoration, and enduring peace. Amongst the murkiness of deception and misinformation, truth stands luminous and beautiful.
