Navy veteran Merle Hare is 103 years old and lives at home in Braddon. During the Second World War she served in the Navy. She did clerical duties at HMAS Cerberus near Melbourne during the war. Her twin brother Don was killed in the war. He was a flight engineer on a Catalina flying boat laying mines in the South China Sea.
