This painting is based on a photo I took on patrol in Tarin Kowt, Afghanistan in 2010. My introduction to painting was during treatment I received for post-traumatic stress disorder, and this piece was produced during this time. I have found art and the process of painting very therapeutic. The image of the soldier helping the kids in this image I have found symbolic and relatable to my healing journey.
