Communications and Marketing

Head Communications and Marketing - Elliot Woods

Elliot brings a diverse communications background to the Australian War Memorial.

A former journalist, Elliot also spent five seasons with the Brumbies as their head of media and communications between 2010 and 2015. The Brumbies allowed Elliot to refine his skills in media management, crisis media and brand management, setting him up for senior communications advisory rolls with the ACT Government between 2015 and 2018.

During his time in Government, Elliot managed the brand development and roll out for Transport Canberra in 2016, then moving into senior positions first in the office of the Minister for Transport and Minister for Health, and then the Deputy Chief Minister. Between 2018-2019, Elliot spent time with the Suburban Land Agency, where he managed all communications outputs as well as stakeholder engagement, market research and brand development.

Elliot transferred all these skills back to the private sector with Geocon in 2019 where he led communications, brand and media management across group, construction, sales and marketing.

Elliot joined the Australian War Memorial in June 2022. His remit was to share the positive work being done on the Development, as well as its foundations as a museum, a shrine and record for the stories of Australian service.
