Description

Webley & Scott Model 1908 external hammer, blowback, semi automatic pistol. The pistol has a 6 shot, detachable inline box magazine. A manual safety switch is on the left side of the receiver slide. The frame and action parts have a blued finish and the hand grips are of white metal composition which are screwed to the frame with slotted head screws. The left hand side of the slide is marked 'WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD/LONDON & BIRMINGHAM/6.35MM & 32 AUTOMATIC PISTOL'. 'MADE IN ENGLAND'.

History / Summary

The pistol was taken from a dead Japanese pilot by Donald Kilp who was serving with Z Special forces in New Guinea. The pistol then became his personal weapon. The Japanese aircraft had been shot down by Australian forces serving in the area. The incident is recounted in the in 'Silent Feet, The History of Z Special Operations'.
