History / Summary
Awarded to 432911 Flying Officer George Howard Stephen Todd, RAAF. Born on 25 November 1924, Todd, of Elliston, South Australia, enlisted on 30 January 1943. He served with 78 Squadron, flying Kittyhawks based in New Guinea (Nadzab and Tadji), and later at Tarakan. Todd was discharged from the RAAF on 22 March 1946. His father, Arthur Charles Robert Todd, was one of the surgeons aboard HMAS Sydney during its engagement with the German raider SMS Emden in November 1914.
