Nautical Odometer Hand Wheel
Description
Handwheel used to tether odometer measuring vane to ship's side. The handwheel has a rope and shackle attached to it. The hand wheel is made from mild steel and is painted light green. The shackle is attached by a small rope to the handwheel, is made from steel and is painted light green.
History / Summary
This nautical odometer hand wheel was captured by the Royal Australian Navy Clearance Diver Team during the 2003 Iraq War. It was captured by a boarding party from HMAS Kanimbla after intercepting the Iraqi tug Jumariya.
