Specimen clasp 'KOREA' for Australian Active Service Medal 1945 - 1975
Description
Specimen clasp 'KOREA' for the Australian Active Service Medal 1945 - 1975.
History / Summary
The Australian Active Service Medal (1945 - 1975) was established in 1998 to recognise, with a distinctly Australian award, the service of Australian forces in warlike operations between 1945 and 1975. Veterans of the Korean War, Malayan Emergency, Indonesian Confrontation and Vietnam War all qualify for the AASM in addition to the campaign medals previously issued by the British Commonwealth for these actions. The AASM cannot be issued without a clasp. The clasp 'Korea' was authorised in 1998 for all those who qualified for the Korea Medal for service in that country between 1 July 1950 and 27 July 1953. 4475 were issued.
