Description

Australian Women’s Army Service tan leather ankle boots. The boots have a toe cap and are reinforced with an extra strip of leather around the heel and back of the ankle. Each boot is tied with a shoelace threaded through eleven pairs of brown painted brass eyelets. The boots have leather soles with stitching around the edge and a reinforced rubber heel. Impressed on the sole is ‘N737 1044 4F’.

History / Summary

Worn by NF392287 Sergeant May Grace (later Goudie) during her service in the Australian Women’s Army Service. Grace was born on 9 April 1917 in North Sydney, New South Wales and enlisted on 13 April 1942 at Chatswood. She completed her initial training at Killara in Sydney and was then stationed at Victoria Barracks and Bathurst, before being discharged on 10 October 1946.
