Description

Australian Women’s Army Service fine khaki wool battledress blouse without insignia or badges. The blouse has a fold down collar, shoulder straps and two pleated breast pockets with buttoned flaps. The belted waist is gathered and fastened by a metal buckle. Two white cotton labels stitched inside the left side read ‘N489 1943 MADE IN AUSTRALIA SIZE 1’, and ‘REGIMENTAL NO. NAME’.

History / Summary

Worn by NF392287 Sergeant May Grace (later Goudie) during her service in the Australian Women’s Army Service. Grace was born on 9 April 1917 in North Sydney, New South Wales and enlisted on 13 April 1942 at Chatswood. She completed her initial training at Killara in Sydney and was then stationed at Victoria Barracks and Bathurst, before being discharged on 10 October 1946.
