Australian Red Cross Society VAD Badge : M D Ingram, Volunteer Aid Detachment
Description
White enamelled badge of the Voluntary Aid Detachment. The badge is circular with a red enamelled cross in the centre and the text around the cross reading 'AUSTRALIAN RED CROSS SOCIETY'. Beneath the circle is a scroll witht he text 'V.A.D.' in blue enamel. On the reverse of the badge are the maker's details 'MILLERS LTD SYDNEY' and a horizontally set brooch pin.
History / Summary
Associated with the service of Marjorie Doreen Ingram who was born in July 1898 in Sydney, New South Wales. Ingram served in Sydney with Volunteer Aid Detachment 240 during the Second World War. She was married Robert Cuthbert Ingram in 1939. He became a prisoner of the Japanese in 1942 and died in Japan in 1944.
