Description
Two members of the 3rd Australian Light Horse Brigade seated on camels in front of the Sphinx, Egypt. At left, smoking a pipe, is 394 Corporal (Cpl) Denis Du Val, C Squadron, 10th Australian Light Horse Regiment of Murchison, WA (originally Manchester, England). He enlisted on 4 December 1914, a station owner from the Murchison district of Western Australia. Cpl Du Val was killed in action, aged 36, on 7 August 1915 during the charge at The Nek, Walker's Ridge, on the Gallipoli Peninsula.
