[Identified, from left] J W Francis Killed in Action France 1917; P E Virgoe Wounded ANZAC 1915; F Bridgeland Killed ANZAC 1915; Fred Reed Killed in Action France 1916; Robt Edwards Wounded at ANZAC 1915; F J Meldrum" (Album caption). Lieutenant John Walter Francis, 59th Battalion, a 22 year old farmer from Hamilton, Victoria, died of wounds in France on 26 September 1917; 73 Trooper Frederick Charles Lionel Bridgeland, 4th Light Horse Regiment, a 34 year old traveller from St Kilda, Victoria, was killed in action at Gallipoli on 6 August 1915; 177 Lance Corporal Frederick William Reed, XXII Corps Australian Light Horse Regiment, a 32 year old carpenter from Casterton, Victoria, was killed in action in Belgum on 11 April 1918. From a collection relating to the service of 531 (3228) Sergeant Percy Ernest Virgoe, 4th Light Horse Regiment.
