Senior NCOs M.1915 Pattern field grey woollen Bluse jacket : Infanterie-Regiment Nr 55, German Army
German Army Senior NCO's M.1915 Pattern field grey woollen Bluse jacket. This single breasted six-button jacket has a stand and fall collar with green edging. The collar is faced with green badge cloth (Abzeichen Tuch) and has a senior NCO's single brown painted rank button bearing the Prussian eagle on either side. It also has a single band of woven silver grey braid with green edging. The collar can be fastened with three pairs of ferrous hook and eyes fittings. The six grey plastic(?) buttons on the front of the jacket are concealed. On the left front panel there is a pair of small thread loops to support a decoration. A pocket that has a button-down flap, which slopes downward from the front to the back, has been let into both hips. The single metal buttons on the pockets are painted field grey and bear the Bavarian lion. The shoulder straps have white coloured edging (denoting infantry units) except where each is sewn into the jacket at the shoulder seam. They are held down on the inward end by metal buttons that are painted field grey and bear the Prussian crown. The number '55' has been embroidered in red woollen thread on both shoulder straps. The sleeve cuffs are turned back 160mm. There are two field grey ferrous metal clasps that imitate buttons above the 300mm vent in the skirt at the back. An aluminium alloy belt hook has been fitted to both sides of the waistline. The jacket is fully lined with field grey cotton drill. A pocket, with a single button on the opening, has been let into the lining of the right breast. Stamped in black ink near the third buttonhole inside the left front panel is 'B.A.II / 1916'. Below this, adjacent to the fourth buttonhole, is 43 / 94 43 / 82 63'. At the bottom of the same panel is an open-topped patch pocket.
