Description

1. Escort to the Queen. HMAS Anzac (D59) escorts the Royal Yacht Britannia for Her Majesty the Queen's tour of Australia. Admiral Sir Roy Dowling appointed Australian Secretary to the Queen. Britannia with HMAS Anzac in Adelaide waiting for the Queen to arrive to start the tour. Anzac provides the ceremonial sentries when the Queen is in Australia. The Queen and the Duke of York board Britannia for the start of their tour. At sea with HMAS Anzac at two cables a stern of Britannia. Accompanying the fleet is the Royal Fleet Auxiliary tanker RFA Wave Prince (A207) to provide fuel and replenishment. HMAS Anzac's Captain Nobby Clark overseeing a refueling operation from RFA Wave Prince. The Royal Squadron steams up Port Phillip Bay and the river Yarra to their berths. On shore the Navy Band perform and the guard of honour provided by HMAS Cerebeus. A navy barge brings the royal couple to shore. Inspection of the guard of honour and a motorcade through Melbourne. HMAS Anzac on speed trials . Arrival at Sydney where Anzac is joined by HMAS Parramatta and HMAS Yarra. Display by Navy Divers. At sea headed to Brisbane and arrival. The special communications centre established at Parliament House, Canberra for communication between the royals and the United kingdom. At Canberra the royal attend a combined parade by officer cadets of the three services. Vice Admiral Sir Wilfred Hastings Harrington KBE, CB, DSO, is among the service chiefs greeting the Queen. HMAS Anzac and Britannia at sea. Pay parade on board HMS Anzac. Shore leave for the sailors on the Queensland resort Hayman Island. At Darwin the Queen rejoins the royal squadron to continue the tour to Perth. Divine service on HMAS Anzac. At Fremantle Anzac joined by HMAS Diamantina. The Australians give a farewell party to the crew of Britannia. The Duke of Edinburgh makes an informal visit to thank the crew of HMAS Anzac. At sea HMAS Anzac's crew lined up on the decks cheering the royals farewell.
