Description

Studio portrait of 4523 Private (Pte) Marcus Dill Reid, 14th Reinforcements, 1st Battalion, of Bankstown, NSW. A clerk prior to enlistment on 10 September 1915, he embarked from Sydney aboard HMAT Osterley on 15 November 1915. Pte Reid later transferred to the 13th Battalion and was killed in action on 13 July 1917, aged 21 years. His brother, 308 Corporal John Dill Reid, also served with the 13th Battalion AIF; he was killed in action on the Gallipoli Peninsula, 26 April 1915, aged 21 years.
