Collection relating to the Second World War service of O18004 (404037) Squadron Leader Arthur Gerald Graham Richmond, 230 Squadron and 461 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, Rhodesia, Egypt, United Kingdom and Australia, 1941-1971.

Wallet 1 of 3 - Consists of one flying log book of Squadron Leader Arthur Gerald Graham Richmond, containing entries dated between 23 September 1941 and 9 June 1952. This log book covers the period of Squadron Leader Richmond’s pilot training in Rhodesia, service with 230 Squadron in Egypt, service with 461 Squadron in the United Kingdom, and post-war activity as a flying instructor in Queensland. The entries record details such as dates and times of flights, aircraft types and numbers, crewmembers, and purposes of flights. Some of the purposes of flights include elementary flying training, service flying training, anti-shipping patrols, aerial photography, escorting naval convoys, search and rescue operations, transportation, advanced operational training, reconnaissance, bombing, tracking enemy submarines, and instruction of flying pupils. This log book also contains certificates for courses completed by Squadron Leader Richmond.

Wallet 2 of 3 - Consists of one flying log book of Squadron Leader Arthur Gerald Graham Richmond, containing entries dated between 16 June 1952 and 21 December 1967. This log book covers the period of Squadron Leader Richmond’s post-war activity as a flying instructor with the Royal Queensland Aero Club. The entries record details such as dates and times of flights, aircraft types and numbers, pupils, and purposes of flights. Some of the purposes of flights include instruction of flying pupils, ferrying aircraft, cross country flights, and aircraft tests. This log book also contains one copy of a poem titled 'Tiger Moth Trees', written by an unknown author.

Wallet 3 of 3 - Consists of one Interim Certificate of Service of Squadron Leader Richmond, and one book of Flight Crew Licences of Squadron Leader Richmond. The Interim Certificate of Service was issued to Squadron Leader Richmond by the Royal Australian Air Force upon his discharge on 21 February 1946. The book of Flight Crew Licences, issued to Squadron Leader Richmond by the Department of Civil Aviation, contains various types of flying licences dated between 1967 and 1971.
