Description
Outdoor portrait of NX31913 Private (Pte) Robert Albert Gray of Neville, NSW. Pte Gray enlisted on 18 June 1940 and served at the 5th Australian General Hospital in Greece. He was captured on 27 April 1941 after the hospital staff were ordered to remain behind to treat wounded allied prisoners of war (POW) following the evacuation. After remaining in Greece for eight months he was transferred to Stammlager XXA camp at Thorn, Poland, and returned to Australia in 1944.
