Description
Outdoor portrait of Walter James Crane with three indigenous service personnel during Crane's period as patrol officer in New Guinea. He later served as 436 Private (Pte) Walter James Crane, 20th Battalion and embarked with B Company from Sydney on HMAT Berrima on 25 June 1915. Later promoted to Lance Sergeant, he was wounded in action and returned to Australia on 18 December 1918.
