Studio portrait of 1095 Private (Pte) George Ferguson, 23rd Battalion, of Bobinawarrah, Vic. A farmer prior to enlistment in March 1915, Pte Ferguson embarked on board HMAT Euripides (A14) on 10 May 1915. He served at Gallipoli and on the Western Front. Private George Ferguson was one of four brothers who enlisted between March 1915 and June 1916. He alone survived the war. Following the deaths of his three brothers, he applied for and was granted discharge on compassionate grounds. Pte George Ferguson returned to Australia in June 1918.
