Studio portrait of 1021 Private Hugh Valentine Ferguson, 24th Battalion, of Bobinawarrah, Vic. A farmer prior to enlistment in March 1915, Pte Ferguson embarked on board HMAT Euripides (A14) on 10 May 1915. Pte Ferguson was killed in action at Lone Pine, Gallipoli on 29 November 1915. He was 24 years of age. Private Hugh Ferguson was one of four brothers who enlisted between March 1915 and June 1916. Only one survived the war and returned to Australia.
