recto: A pencil study of a French village containing a church and spire in the landscape. verso: an AIF memorial featuring a celtic cross with 1st Australian Division AIF inscribed onto the bars of the cross, below it is set into the ground and a memorial plaque is inscribed 'In Memory of the Officers NCO's and men of the 1st Australian Division who fell in the taking of Pozieres July 1916'.
