Description

Artist's sketchbook covering the campaign on the Western Front during July - November 1918. The sketchbook comprises 27 pages with 46 drawings of landscapes, artillery, animals, camp life and battlefield scenes, with notes on the inside and back covers. Places depicted include Glisy, Amiens, Villers-Bretonneux, Mont St Quentin, and the Acute Surgical Ward No 3 AGH. The sketchbook is bound in hard boards covered by buff linen material. Will Longstaff was Officer in Charge of Camouflage and an official war artist attached to 2nd Division AIF in France. After the war he continued to work for the Australian War Records in London until 1920.
