Description

Outdoor portrait of WX11939 Private Charles Richard Stouse, 2/28 Battalion, of South Belmont, WA. Pte Stouse enlisted on 29 April 1941 and was discharged on 1 June 1945. On the reverse of this portrait is a handpainted card incorporating a rising sun and the colour patch of 2/28 Battalion and the 28th Battalion (see Reference image). During the year of his discharge Pte Stouse arranged to have a plaque made to commemorate his friend WX14734 Pte Cyril Edward Francis Smith, 2/32 Battalion, who was killed in action in Egypt on 1 November 1942.
