Informal portrait of WX3569 Private (Pte) Neil Ormonde Butler, 2/16 Infantry Battalion, and his family. From Palmyra, WA, Pte Butler enlisted on 28 May 1940. He is pictured here with his wife, Gladys, niece Betty Cleveland and nephews Arthur (back) and Brian Cleveland. Pte Butler was killed in action in Papua on 8 September 1942. His father, 236 Pte Clive Hobart Butler, served in the First World War and was killed in action in Belgium in October of 1917 (See P09654.001).
