Description
An Australian flag flying on the rocky outcrop of Hill 323 on the top of the Long Hai hills. The flag was raised by Lance Corporal David Halliday and Private John Scott, both signallers in C Company Headquarters, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR) in a position overlooking most of Phuoc Tuy Province at the conclusion of Operation Pinnaroo. This was the first time Australian troops had operated in the Long Hai hills. This flag is now in the collection of the Australian War Memorial (RELAWM40126).
