The 2/14th Light Horse Regiment (Queensland Mounted Infantry) are an Armoured Reconnaissance unit of the Australian Army. The unit is one of the oldest in the Army, with ancestor units of the modern day unit being raised initially as a Militia unit in Southern Queensland in the late 19th century before deploying to combat in South Africa during the Boer War (1899-1902), the First and Second World Wars, Iraq post 2003 and in Afghanistan. Their role in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) 'Operation Slipper' in Afghanistan was to provide mobility, firepower and security to ADF, Afghan National Army and other NATO forces.
