Studio portrait of 2967 Trooper (Tpr) Archibald Allan Stokes, 4 Battalion, Imperial Camel Corps. Tpr Stokes was a wheeler from Newcastle before embarking from Melbourne aboard HMAT Boorara (A42) on 10 May 1917. He had previously tried to enlist but was rejected as unfit for service because of heart trouble. Tpr Stokes died of pneumonia in Egypt on 20 August 1918. He was 25 years old.
