Description
One of a series of oil paintings accompanying the `Evacuation of the wounded' dioramas. These depict the scheme of evacuation practiced in Messines in Belgium in June 1917. Work began on the models in 1923. McCubbin painted the original figures, background and modelling for the dioramas (ART41028-ART41034).
