Description
This personal diary of Field Marshal Lord William Birdwood commences on 1 January 1919 with visits to towns and cities on the Western Front, including Lille and Étaples. Back in England, Birdwood records morning horse rides with Wattle. Entries from 15 November detail his departure to Australia and the subsequent voyage aboard HMS Ormonde. After arriving in Fremantle on 18 December, subsequent diary entries detail daily visits and activities. The diary ends on 31 December 1919.
