Description

This file contains telegrams exchanged by Lord Horatio Herbert Kitchener and Field Marshal Lord William Birdwood between 3 November 1915 and 8 December 1915. The telegrams are often addressed to General Maxwell, although their intended recipient is usually identified in the text as being Lord Kitchener or Birdwood. The telegrams were collated and sent to Birdwood in the original envelope included in this file. The file consists of loose telegrams as well as a bound volume and cover the Dardanelles Campaign, particularly the evacuation from Gallipoli. The file itself was identified as Item 9 on Birdwood's original listing of files related to the Dardanelles campaign. This original list can be found in 3DRL/3376 11/15 File 1.
