Description

This file contains 80 black and white photographs collected by Field Marshal Lord William Birdwood. These photographs include family photographs as well as official war photographs of the Western Front and Gallipoli taken between 1915 and 1917. Featured in these photographs are the towns and villages of Bapaume, Le Sars, Thiepval, Vaulx, Ribemont, Noreuil and Millencourt. As well as Birdwood, people in this set of images include Private Thomas Henry Davies MM, Private S Cavenaugh, Corporal Geoffrey Cowen, Captain Ken Russell, Brigadier General Walter Adam Coxen, Colonel Sir Henry McMahon, Private Charles William Marsh, Private Leo Dixon, and Major General Henry William Murray. There are also several aerial photographs.
