Letters from James Joseph Makin to his family, 1915 - 1916
Description
Letters relating to the First World War service of Private James Joseph Makin. These letters, sent to his mother, father, and brother, were written between 5 October 1915 and 7 November 1916 and cover topics including his voyage to Egypt, life in camp in Cairo, and his time spent in France in 1916. The last five letters were sent from England, where Makin was recovering from shell shock. Two of the letters in this file are incomplete.
