Description
A house in the Australian-created village of Ap Soi Nghe, Vietnam. One of 477 colour 35mm transparencies taken or collected by 2784336 Signalman Stuart Lindsay Weller, 104 Signal Squadron, relating to his service in Vietnam between 1967 and 1968. Sig Weller notes: "We Australians created a village just to the north of the Task Force base by relocating all the remotely located population of Phuoc Tuy into a village we could then keep an eye on. It was named Ap Soui Nghe but because it was created fairly quickly – by bulldozing a section of jungle – and the 'houses' were built somewhere else and dropped on site, Australians always referred to it as Ap Soui Nescafe – in recognition of its instant nature."
