Official papers relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant Colonel Frederick William Gadsby Annand, 2nd Pioneer Battalion. Contained within this file are various papers relating to Annand’s time in command of the 2nd Pioneers. Documents include maps annotated with Battalion movements and actions in France, notes and draft reports on the Battalion and its casualties, and monetary documents (including a cash book and a Regimental Trust account book for the 2nd Pioneer Battalion and the troopship “Norman”). Also included are correspondence with and about several other Australian soldiers/officers, and official documents and instructions relating to demobilisation, war diaries, and the movement of troops and animals. Of particular note is an illustrated book on identifying aircraft.
