Langtip, Henry 'Harry' (Staff Sergeant, b.1888 - d.1940)
Collection relating to the First World War service of 2347 Staff Sergeant Henry 'Harry' Langtip, 4 Light Horse Regiment. Collection consists of three diaries for 1916, 1917 and 1918. The diaries describe departure from Melbourne, training, patrols and guard duty in Egypt, and active service in Palestine, including the charge at Beersheba and the pursuit of the Turkish forces through the Jordan Valley. Also included is a transcript of the diaries, and copies of the service records of the four Langtip brothers (Henry, Leslie, Bertie and Ernest) who enlisted together with consecutive service numbers and all served in the 4 LHR (all survived the war). The Lantip brothers were of Chinese descent.
