[Sound recording] It's a long way back to Sydney
Description
Recording of "It's a long way back to Sydney", created as part of the Music and the First World War project. This is a parody written by Walter Goldstein Ivory Deveril and Harry James Wall Ross, who both served with the AIF during the First World War, to the tune of "It's a long way to Tipperary". The original music was written by Henry "Harry" James Williams. Produced by Chris Latham, with Andrew Goodwin as vocalist and Alan Hicks on piano. This recording was made at Flat Rock Studios, Sydney, on 14 August 2018. The work is performed in the spirit of the time with some changes made for the modern ear.
Chris Latham, producer of this recording, notes: 'The word setting is not perfect but the song is quite cute.'
