Description

File of letters relating to the First World War service of Lieutenant David Gerald Evans, 8th Infantry Battalion. Known as Gerald at home, these letters written between January and December 1916 mention: his time in the School of Instruction at Zeitoun; his move to the 8th Battalion; his time in hospital with mumps; matters from home; the sights he passes in Armentières; the lack of letters from his brother Francis (Ken) Evans; people he has seen from home and descriptions of the landscape around him.
