Letters from William McKenzie to his Family, 1914
Letters relating to the First World War service of Chaplain William McKenzie, 4th Battalion, Australian Imperial Force. In his 1914 letters to his family, William McKenzie writes about his experiences of his embarkation and voyage abroad, including getting to know the soldiers, holding classes, meetings and concerts, and burials at sea. After landing in Egypt, McKenzie relates how he camped outdoors near the pyramids, trained with the troops, and held church parades.
