Letters of Kenneth Charles von Bibra, May-June 1941
Description
Letters relating to the Second World War service of VX29109 Private Kenneth Charles von Bibra, 2/14th Australian Infantry Battalion. In his letters written to his wife Joan between May and June 1941, Kenneth describes his daily life serving in Palestine and Syria. Some his experiences include sentry duty, moving camps, swimming in the nearby ocean, digging out sand from trenches, sand storms, creating a dug-out, and drinking a big mug of tea with every meal. In his letters, Kenneth also asks his wife about events at home, and assures her of his love for her. In June 1941, Kenneth faced intense fighting for the first time, and told Joan that it was not what he expected. Kenneth was killed in action on 24 June 1941.
