Description
File of letters relating to the Second World War service of 309493 William 'Bill' Dunstan, 178 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, South East Asian Command. This file has letters written from Bill Dunstan to his Father William Dunstan (a VC winner from the First World War) and mother as well as copies of letters from William Dunstan (as dictated to his secretary) to Bill. These letters, written between 1 January 1946 and 25 May 1946 mention: the resources being better in Java for service people than in India; Bill's part in the Indonesian War of Independence; Bill's attendance at a court martial of a officer who stole his cheque book and money from his bank account and Bill's activities while waiting to be discharged.
