Description
Collection relating to the service of Captain Ivor Stephen Margetts, 12 Battalion, at sea, Egypt, Lemnos, Gallipoli, France, 1914-1916.
Wallet 2 of 2 – Wallet consists of twenty-eight photostat or typed copies of letters written by Margetts to his family; a typed copy of a detailed account by Margetts of the Landing and his first few days on Gallipoli; various copies of cablegrams; letters of condolence; and newspaper cuttings. Also included in the collection is a photostat copy of a letter written by Private George Arthur McKenzie, (regimental stretcher bearer), 12 Battalion, to Captain Margetts' father, relaying the circumstances of the Captain's death at Pozieres.
