Folder 4 of 4 contains an exercise book that was used by Jack Edmondson while attending Hurlstone Agricultural High School at Glenfield. The book was reused as a journal by Jack’s mother Maude Elizabeth Edmondson and contains two undated entries. The first entry includes Maude’s recollections of life on the home front during the Second World War, and in the second entry, she recalls several humorous stories told by Australian soldiers training at Ingleburn Army Camp.
Collection also includes loose pages containing a handwritten book review of a work entitled "Captain Blood" by Rafael Sabatine. This book review was written by Jack Edmondson in March 1926 and includes annotations made by Maude Edmondson. The annotations include the name of the primary school that Jack attended, Austral Public School. Collection also contains an undated fragment of a loose page entitled “My Favourite Character in Fiction”.
