Collection relating to the Second World War service of S1189 Leading Stoker Raymond Ambrose Murphy, HMAS Hawkesbury, Royal Australian Navy, Australia, 1945.
Wallet 1 of 1 – Consists of one letter from Leading Stoker Raymond Ambrose Murphy to his wife, Mrs Alice Ayes Murphy (née Condor). This letter is dated 12 April 1945, and was written by Leading Stoker Murphy at the end of his service on HMAS Hawkesbury in the Pacific. In his letter, Leading Stoker Murphy writes about his forthcoming return home, his journey from the Philippines to Australia, and being on a ship in a cyclone. He also asks about his family at home, and sends his love and well wishes.
