Description

Sydney, Nsw ? Group portrait of the crew of HMAS Kanimbla. At the start of the Second World War the Kanimbla was commissioned as an Armed Merchant Cruiser (AMC) and later converted to a Landing Ship Infantry (LSI). She was then used to transport Australian and Allied troops to landings in the later part of the campaigns against the Japanese. Note that most of the Officers in the front rows are members of the RAN Reserve (RANR) or RAN Volunteer Reserve (RANVR).
