Description

Signaller John Joseph Tomlinson of the 1st Battalion, the King's Liverpool Regiment which served at Intintanyone, 24 October 1899; Lombard's Kop, 30 October 1899; Wagon Hill 6 January 1900 and the Relief of Ladysmith , 28 February 1900. The portrait is mounted on board and surmounted with a ribbon printed to commemorate the events/battle honours described. Tomlinson served for 16 years in the 1st Battalion, the King's Liverpool Regiment before serving with the Merchant Navy. In February 1915 he enlisted in the AIF and served with the service number 746 as a member of the 1st Light Horse Regiment and then the Anzac Provost Corps.
