Collection relating to the First World War service of Captain Walter Morris Felix Gamble MC, 7 and 59 Infantry Battalion, 15 Australian Light Mortar Battery, 1/91st Punjabis, Egypt, Gallipoli, France, Belgium, India, Burma, 1915-1918.

Wallet 1 of 2 - This wallet contains letters written by Gamble to his father, mother, four younger brothers and his sister from September 1915 to December 1916. The letters, often light-hearted and enthusiastic, contain descriptions, feelings and anecdotes of his experiences in Egypt, Gallipoli, France and Belgium. Gamble also recounts being evacuated from Gallipoli in December 1915, his rest period on Lemnos Island and being hospitised with a mild case of the mumps in Egypt, March 1916.

Wallet 2 of 2 - This wallet contains letters written by Gamble to his father, mother, four younger brothers and his sister from January 1917 to August 1918. The letters, often light-hearted and enthusiastic, contain descriptions, feelings and anecdotes of his experiences in France, Belgium and the beginning of his service with the Indian Army, travelling through Rangoon, Calcutta and Burma.
